Mekong Island Cycling

Experience Details

Escape the hustle and bustle of the city with a memorable morning cycling the quiet back roads of the Silk Islands near Phnom Penh. As you pedal, you’ll visit local communities, village industries and farmland to witness daily life in the Cambodian countryside.

Only 5km from the heart of Cambodia’s capital city, there is an island oasis where you can cycle at a gentle pace and discover true rural Cambodia, our local guide will be on hand to show you the highlights. These islands, created by the currents of the Mekong River, are isolated by a lack of bridges, but ferry connections provide access for villagers who use the fertile soil here to grow fruit and vegetables and then weave silk and cotton between farming cycles.

The absence of much four-wheeled traffic makes for peaceful bike touring, where you can almost forget that Phnom Penh is just nearby. We will take a break at a local house for an authentic cooking experience, learn how to cook some of the local delicacies before trying them yourself as part of our delicious lunch. The riding is flat and easily achievable, and we take care to ensure a high degree of safety through the journey, making this an enjoyable and family-friendly experience.
